Projects to support equal opportunity during studies
To promote equal opportunity during studies and to create optimal conditions for people of all genders, the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is expanding its existing support structures for students and instructors with targeted new initiatives. These efforts aim to make the topic of gender accessible to anyone interested.
A comfortable teaching and learning environment for all students and instructors, across every faculty, is central to achieving equal opportunity. This includes giving instructors the chance to review their teaching materials and methods through a gender lens, ensuring they do not inadvertently reinforce gender stereotypes.
Supporting women in their scientific and professional careers also means addressing the unequal conditions that young women often face. For equal opportunity during studies to succeed, there must be opportunities to engage critically with gender issues. Events that challenge social gender norms and highlight existing inequalities are essential, as it is only by recognising and critiquing these inequalities that we can begin to eliminate them.
