Equal Opportunity Monitor

Making equal opportunity visible

The Equal Opportunity Office initiates many different projects and services to foster equal opportunity at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The focus of these projects and services is based on current figures that show the status of gender distribution at the University. Using current data is the only way the Equal Opportunity Office can focus its work and make the success of projects visible.

The Equal Opportunity Monitor is published once every two years. It collects, evaluates, and processes data published internally by the University and includes figures on the distribution of women students, professors and staff, as well as management positions and members of committees. These data make gender proportions at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences visible and help identify trends.

The gender profiles shown in the Equal Opportunity Monitor provide information on the gender distribution in various career and qualification stages and clearly show where there is a need for action.

In the future, the data collected and published in the Equal Opportunity Monitor will make it possible to notice any potential backsliding in individual areas in a timely manner and work to counteract this. At the same time, progress and positive effects in the University’s equal opportunity policies can be shown. The Equal Opportunity Monitor therefore serves to monitor measures that promote equal opportunity for men and women.

It can also help to create transparency, gender awareness and lines of reasoning for the implementation of equal opportunity policy issues. The report is made available to the management levels and committees and published across the University. The first Equal Opportunity Monitor was published in 2018.
